Acoustic Design Engineer, DC Design Engineering

About the role

The Acoustic Design Engineer, DC Design Engineering, plays a crucial role in influencing all aspects of acoustics and sound mitigation for mechanical design, construction, operations, and maintenance of AWS global data centers. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document sound mitigation features required by facilities, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches.

Responsibilities

• Drive improvements in acoustic design standards and project approaches across the organization.
• Review and approve designs from third-party vendors to ensure compliance with established acoustic design standards, local code requirements, and AHJ requirements.
• Provide high-quality acoustic engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally, aligning designs and objectives with global engineering teams.
• Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to address requests for information and value engineering queries.
• Prepare or review construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluations, testing, inspections, and submittal reviews. Meet with AHJs as needed to secure approval of acoustical features.
• Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Experience in commissioning.
