Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Surveys parts, products and or processes to insure conformance with standards, specifications or regulations.
- Conducts final surveys to verify specified dimensions, strengths and other quality factors using measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Completes in process and final survey records and reports.
- Sets up surveys by ABS and U.S. Coast Guard based on rules and regulations.
- Ensure that all of the survey procedures put in place by the company are followed during every production phase.
- Create comprehensive documentation for accuracy issues and note the corrective actions that were taken.
- Educate production team on accuracy control issues and work with departmental managers to improve overall company safety and product quality.
- Create process checklists and coordinate accuracy inspections with departmental managers.
Required Experience and Training
- A high school diploma with 5 – 10 years of broad shipyard experience in various craft areas required.
- Certification in quality control is preferred.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Familiar with regulatory bodies such as ABS and USCG.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven history of understanding industry safety standards and quality expectations.
- Strong understanding of raw materials and the manufacturing industry.
- Good math and technical skills.
- Strong understanding of accuracy control standards and testing techniques.
