Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician I is responsible for the collection of raw materials, packaging component samples, and retaining samples. This individual is the gatekeeper for all samples, including tracking incoming and outgoing samples to various departments, including the Quality Control unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull products, retains, raw material samples as required.
- Ensures all sample handling activities are performed according to applicable SOP’s and cGMP requirements.
- Interacts with the shipping/receiving dept. in the facility warehouse.
- Inspects all incoming raw material containers; verifies accurate label information, lot numbers, and associated paperwork; processes and efficiently transfers to the Quality Control Lab.
- Tests for physical measurements of packaging components and performs specific identification tests of various raw materials.
- Maintains electronic tracking of product retain samples and archives records.
- Handles non-hazardous, hazardous, and DEA waste according to environmental regulations and company/departmental procedures.
- Maintains inventory of glassware, chemicals, and materials needed for sampling and testing.
- Communicates professionally and quickly with numerous departments, electronically, over the phone, and in person regarding samples, processes, questions, issues, etc.
- Reviews documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Performs sampling, examination, review, and release of packaging components.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and current Good Documentation Practices (cGDP) preferred.
- Bilingual communication skills a plus.
Physical Demands
- Regularly requires talking, hearing, and grasping items.
- Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
- Frequent lifting and moving of items weighing over 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Overall Work Environment
- Clean, orderly, properly lit, and ventilated office.
- Noise levels considered low to moderate.
- Variety of raw materials, including allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy).
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $25.91 - $29.81
Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, skills, and education.
