Responsibilities

• Aid individuals in developing, implementing, and monitoring personal recovery goals using a self-directed recovery and wellness planning process.
• Support individuals through life and care transitions.
• Conduct and facilitate 1-on-1 and group activities aimed at increasing readiness for rehabilitation.
• Facilitate peer skill-building and support groups.
• Help individuals develop valued community roles, such as group memberships, employment, or volunteer experiences.
• Maintain knowledge of consumer-operated programs and activities in the mental health field.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, required.
• Valid Driver’s License, reliable and insured vehicle, and acceptable driving record, required.
• Lived experience with Substance Use Disorder and the ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with people served while maintaining strong boundaries/ethics.
• Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) or willingness to obtain CARC within one year of employment.

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist must have strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build trust and collaborate with people served. They should also possess excellent communication and facilitation skills, and be able to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
