About the role

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking an Accounting Technician 2 to join their team. This entry-level role offers a collaborative workspace and the opportunity to support the department's mission of making lives better through transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the accuracy of invoices and receipts
  • Completing daily reconciliations
  • Processing transactions
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers via email, telephone, and in person
  • Working with customers and/or vendors to resolve issues
  • Performing other tasks as needed

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and four years of clerical accounting experience
  • The successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education
  • A combination of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting, or closely related curriculum
  • One year of experience as an Accounting Technician 1 in the State of Iowa classified service
  • One year of work experience as an Accounting Clerk 3 in the State of Iowa classified service

Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Schedule

The ideal candidate will be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
