About the role
The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking an Accounting Technician 2 to join their team. This entry-level role offers a collaborative workspace and the opportunity to support the department's mission of making lives better through transportation.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing the accuracy of invoices and receipts
- Completing daily reconciliations
- Processing transactions
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers via email, telephone, and in person
- Working with customers and/or vendors to resolve issues
- Performing other tasks as needed
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and four years of clerical accounting experience
- The successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting
- An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education
- A combination of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting, or closely related curriculum
- One year of experience as an Accounting Technician 1 in the State of Iowa classified service
- One year of work experience as an Accounting Clerk 3 in the State of Iowa classified service
Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Schedule
The ideal candidate will be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
