About the Opportunity
The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a critical role in managing billing and claims processes to ensure timely and accurate revenue collection. This position supports the revenue cycle by resolving claims issues, denials, and following up on unpaid accounts, contributing directly to the organization's financial health and patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve claim denials with minimal assistance.
- Analyze and report trends related to denials and payer behaviors.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle.
- Prepare and submit corrected claims, appeals, and necessary documentation.
- Contact payers to resolve claims and payment issues.
- Ensure accuracy and currency of patient medical information.
- Meet established productivity standards.
- Communicate accounts receivable issues to management.
- Document patient accounts accurately in billing systems.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of payer policies and guidelines.
- Adhere to organizational Code of Conduct and Mission & Values.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Education or certification in medical billing preferred.
- Experience with Mod Med/EMA practice management system is a plus.
- Understanding of revenue cycle, accounts receivable, denial management, and coding (CPT/HCPCS/ICD10).
- Professional and effective communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, self-starter with positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a changing environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of medical information.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Compensation Range: $20.27 - $27.75 per hour, based on skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
