About the role

As part of a team, you will accurately and efficiently maintain patient accounts receivable records by recording insurance payments, adjustments, denials, charges, and credits in the Company’s billing software. You will perform daily entries into the patient database system to reflect receipt of payment, log collection problems for follow-up, or notify Patient Services of remittances made directly to patients. You will maintain a thorough understanding of billing and collection processes, report concerns or problems to appropriate staff, and perform all job duties while adhering to HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately post payments to patient accounts via Explanation of Benefits and Remittance Advices received from third-party payers.
  • Reconcile daily cash journal to bank records.
  • Schedule collection follow-up tasks within the department as necessary from insurance remittances.
  • Ensure deposit and payment records are permanently recorded in the electronic storage warehouse.
  • Communicate account payment discrepancies with appropriate collections, billing, and payer relations personnel.
  • Enter adjustment entries as necessary.
  • Work additional hours when necessary to meet month-end goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare-related cash posting experience.
  • Preferred: Accounting certificate, diploma, or degree.
  • Previous experience working with Brightree.

Skills

  • Strong math aptitude.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Strong alpha and numeric keyboard proficiency.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently as a team player.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

US Pay Range: $20.77 - $27.26 USD per hour. Offers may differ based on candidate's location, job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.
