Accounts Payable Transformation Manager
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end transformation of the AP function, including technology, process, controls, and team.
- Diagnose current-state architecture and workflows, identify root causes of manual effort and backlog, and define the target operating model.
- Own the platform decision by evaluating the landscape, conducting build-vs-buy/vendor analysis, and making the case for the right solution.
- Design and document scalable intake, coding, approval, exception-handling, and payment processes.
- Clear the existing backlog while establishing the new operating model in parallel.
- Manage and develop a team of three, including two AP analysts and a contract resource on the AP inbox.
- Establish KPIs/SLAs and reporting to ensure leadership confidence in accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading an AP system implementation/transformation or as a strong number-two on a comparable initiative.
- Full procure-to-pay / invoice-to-pay fluency and understanding of the controls that govern it.
- Process re-design discipline to re-architect manual, broken workflows into scalable and controlled processes.
- People-leadership experience, including leading a team through significant change.
- Comfort with a demanding, fast-paced, fully in-office environment.
- Familiarity with evaluating modern AP automation platforms and the ability to assess tools for specific environments is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to capital-intensive, asset-heavy industries such as transportation, leasing, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
- Relevant accounting or finance credential is strongly preferred.
Compensation
Salary: $125,000 – $170,000
