Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama in a contract-to-possible-permanent capacity. This role is ideal for a finance specialist who can provide steady leadership, support team development, and keep payables operations running accurately and on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounts payable activities to ensure invoices are reviewed, coded, and processed correctly within established timelines.
• Guide and support team members by providing day-to-day direction, coaching, and mentoring to strengthen performance and accountability.
• Manage payment and disbursement workflows to maintain accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of vendor obligations.
• Prepare and review 1099-related documentation and processes to support year-end reporting requirements.
• Use Excel and Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint and Teams, to track work, organize records, and communicate updates effectively.
• Comfortable speaking in meetings and presenting information clearly to small groups.

Requirements

• Prior experience supervising or managing accounts payable functions in a detail-oriented business environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead independently and provide effective mentorship to team members.
• Working knowledge of invoice coding, payment processing, and vendor disbursement procedures.
• Experience handling 1099 reporting requirements and related accounts payable documentation.
