About the role
The Accounts Payable Specialist plays a crucial role in the finance team, handling accounts payable records and supporting various departments within Summit Pacific Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring appropriate documentation and approval on all invoices prior to payment.
- Responsible for the general ledger coding of invoices to the appropriate accounts.
- Reconciling and balancing various general ledger accounts and researching/resolving any discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Maintaining the accounts payable vendor database and updating vendor files and documentation.
- Issuing payment for identified invoices timely and auditing and verifying employee expense reports.
- Auxiliary in the preparation of third-party reporting requirements.
- Ensuring 1099 preparation and documents are completed in accordance with IRS guidelines.
- Aid in month-end closing procedures to ensure all expenses are adequately recorded and related monthly reports are completed.
- Researching and analyzing alternatives for improving work flows and developing “best practice” recommendations.
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Associate Degree preferred.
- Accounting and/or Accounts payable experience preferred.
- Hospital experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable and general ledger systems and procedures.
- Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products, internet, copiers, scanners, multi-line telephones, credit card machines, and faxes.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in data mining, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong organization abilities and attention to detail.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
