About the role
We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to provide part-time support for core accounting operations in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract opportunity offers 25 hours per week in a detail-focused managed services environment, with remote work available on Mondays and Fridays. The position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting billing and payment workflows, and helping keep day-to-day accounting activities running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Manage a steady volume of vendor invoices and complete accounts payable processing with accuracy and timeliness.
- Post invoices and journal entries accurately and in compliance with company policies.
- Support the accounts payable cycle by reviewing invoices, matching them to purchase orders, and processing payments.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and updated in the accounting system promptly.
- Prepare and submit payment requests to vendors, ensuring all necessary documentation is included.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure financial records are accurate.
- Generate and maintain accurate financial reports and summaries for management review.
- Support the accounts receivable process by reviewing and posting customer invoices, recording payments, and maintaining accurate records.
- Handle customer inquiries regarding billing and payment issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Use Excel and other relevant software to organize and analyze financial data for better decision-making.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting department by identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or accounts receivable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
