About the role
Since 1972, Metropolitan Ministries has been providing life-changing solutions for those who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless in Tampa Bay. We are a grassroots, donor, and volunteer-fueled community nonprofit.
Job Functions
- Review the AP Aging report each month with the Senior Accountant.
- Reconcile and address any discrepancies.
- Review invoices for accurate coding per the approved budget.
- Work with Procurement to resolve issues associated with PO’s and pending invoices.
- Verify that invoices are accurate by checking the invoice for accuracy and matching the invoice to the purchase order.
- Communicate and work with vendors regarding any invoice discrepancies and credits due.
- Ensure that invoices are paid in a timely manner in accordance with vendor terms.
- Process the weekly check runs.
- Verify that all check numbers are properly accounted for and that unused checks are properly secured.
- Review the recurring invoices list and ensure that all have been received in a timely manner each month for a smooth month-end closing process.
- Ensure that vendor information is accurate and submit changes to be made in the accounting system, as necessary.
- Ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable.
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Contributes ideas for process-improvement
- Supports the Holiday Center Operation as directed.
- Supports the team in other tasks as assigned.
- Mets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree in Business or Finance is preferred.
- One to three years of Accounts Payable processing experience is preferred.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Experience processing Accounts Payable in a high-volume, fast-paced environment is preferred but will train the right candidate.
- Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework;
- Dependability;
- Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity;
- Confidentiality of customer information;
- Able to handle job related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.
- Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals.
- Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
- Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population.
