General Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Vice President of Finance and Accounting leadership to manage, schedule, and oversee daily Accounts Payable operations.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Accounts Payable staff while ensuring departmental goals and deadlines are met.
- Manage invoice processing, vendor payments, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and expense reimbursements across multiple companies.
- Work closely with staff to ensure proper accounting methods, internal controls, and company policies are followed.
- Provide staff training and professional development as needed.
- Continually review accounts payable policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.
- Review departmental workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely completion of assignments and reports.
- Prepare various management reports, analyses, and key performance metrics.
- Aid with month-end and year-end closing activities, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
- Oversee vendor maintenance, 1099 reporting, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as the Accounts Payable lead for Workday Financials, including testing, validation, issue resolution, process improvements, and user training.
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and IT teams to support Workday implementation and future system enhancements.
Minimal Requirements
- Proven work experience as an Accounts Payable Manager or similar leadership role for more than 5 years.
- Experience supervising 8 or more employees.
- Experience managing Accounts Payable operations in a multi-company or multi-entity environment.
- Workday Financials experience required.
- Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or system conversions preferred.
- Familiarity with invoice automation and OCR processing systems preferred.
- Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements, federal reporting requirements, and 1099 compliance.
- Must be able to work and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management, including other departments.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, accounting software, ERP systems, and database programs.
- Ability to understand, analyze, and manipulate large amounts of data.
- Prior proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, and standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to direct, supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
- BS degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
