About the Role

The Accounts Payable Generalist assists the finance department to ensure all incoming payment requests—staff reimbursements and vendor payments—are accurate and align with both government and FCA guidelines. This position processes a high volume of payments, including staff reimbursements and vendor invoices, each week. Additionally, the role supports the receipting department with processing incoming mail and addresses inquiries from field staff.

These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission. The position plays a vital role in the ministry and is expected to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operational activities of the accounts payable department.
  • Review staff reimbursement requests, statements, and invoices to verify amounts owed and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Record and process payments for vendor invoices and staff reimbursements in accordance with internal accounting policies; oversee payment schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Respond to vendor and staff reimbursement inquiries and assist with researching discrepancies in billings and payments.
  • Utilize accounting software and systems to manage invoices and payments.
  • Agree with and abide by FCA's Christian Community Statement.
  • Follow a spiritual rhythm, including daily prayer and Bible study, to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
  • Provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches, and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship, and living by example.
  • Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; some college or certified training preferred but not required.
  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn.
  • Reliable technology and analytical abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and financial software programs.
