Accounts Payable Clerk

Responsibilities

• Review incoming vendor invoices, verify supporting details, and assign the correct accounting codes before processing.
• Enter payable transactions accurately into the accounting system and maintain complete records for each invoice.
• Prepare and support scheduled payment cycles, including check runs, while helping ensure vendors are paid on time.
• Reconcile invoice information against purchase orders, receipts, or internal approvals to resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Communicate with vendors and internal teams to answer payment questions and clarify billing issues when needed.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and follow established procedures to keep accounts payable activities organized and current.
• Absorb and assist with document filing, audit support, and reporting tasks related to accounts payable operations.

Requirements

• Prior experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Working knowledge of invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing procedures.
• Experience assisting with check runs and maintaining accurate payable records.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in financial documents.
• Comfortable using accounting software and standard office applications for data entry and tracking.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with vendors and internal departments.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a structured environment.
