About the RoleRobert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract opportunity with a well-established construction company in Meriden, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing high-volume invoice processing and vendor payments.The Accounts Payable Clerk will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions. ResponsibilitiesProcess a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and efficientlyVerify invoice coding and obtain appropriate approvalsMatch invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentationPrepare and process weekly check runs and electronic paymentsReconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepanciesCommunicate with vendors regarding payment status and account inquiriesMaintain organized accounts payable files and recordsAssist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliationsEnter and maintain accounting data within the ERP or accounting systemSupport the accounting team with additional projects as needed QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred2+ years of accounts payable or accounting support experienceExperience processing high-volume invoicesProficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting softwareStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to meet deadlines and manage multiple prioritiesExcellent communication and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred QualificationsPrevious accounts payable experience within the construction industryFamiliarity with purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and job costingExperience working with ERP systems or construction accounting softwareScheduleFull-time, Monday through FridayStandard business hoursContract assignment with immediate start availableWhy Work with Robert Half?At Robert Half, we connect skilled professionals with opportunities that align with their experience and career goals.
