About the role

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for a metal fabrication company in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract-to-Hire opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping records accurate, organized, and up to date while contributing to both accounting and administrative workflows. The role will focus on core bookkeeping activities, accounts payable coordination, and additional support across receivables and contract documentation. Success in this position requires attention to detail, comfort with routine financial tasks, and the ability to respond effectively to shifting office needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial records through accurate data entry, account balancing, and routine bookkeeping updates.
  • Oversee accounts payable activities by reviewing invoices, preparing payments, and corresponding with vendors to resolve routine questions.
  • Provide secondary support for accounts receivable by recording incoming payments and monitoring open customer balances.
  • Assist with limited collection follow-up to help address overdue accounts when needed.
  • Help process contracts and keep associated files complete, current, and easy to retrieve.
  • Organize accounting and administrative documentation to support accuracy, compliance, and efficient record access.

Requirements

This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks with precision and efficiency. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential, along with the willingness to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with a solid understanding of bookkeeping, accounts payable, and basic accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required, and familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.

Benefits
