About the role
The SER Finance team is searching for an engaged and versatile professional with attention to detail for the Account Manager/Budget Analyst position. The role reviews departmental budgets, conducts cost-benefit analyses, and develops budgets for the company and subsidiaries as well as individual business lines as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to the mission of SER Metro-Detroit and Subsidiaries.
- Assists in corporate budget preparation and modifications as required for assigned contracts. Assist with budget development for new proposals.
- Maintains actual versus budgeted expenditure and revenue figures; recommends budget adjustments as necessary.
- Prepares monthly invoices including assembling necessary supporting documentation, generating required reports, troubleshooting and resolving reconciliation problems, and ensuring invoices/billings reconcile to the general ledger for assigned contracts.
- Works directly with program managers to assist with forecasting expenditures, managing subcontractors, anticipating budget overruns or shortfalls, and preparing budget revision requests as needed.
- Responds to inquiries and requests for information from employees, auditors, funding sources, and/or vendors and conducts research as needed. Responsible for all communications related to the contract assigned.
- Functions as a liaison between the fiscal department, the funding sources, and the program managers for each contract assigned. Responsible for the management of contracts, contract amendments, budget, budget revisions, invoicing, and collection issues and other account manager duties as deemed necessary.
- Aids with agency annual audit, and all audits and monitoring of assigned contracts; providing requested supporting documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving issues to ensure timely completion.
- Collaborates with program staff to ensure expenditure benchmarks are met and that the fiscal and program departments are aligned.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited university or college with a degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required.
- Two (2) years of experience in general accounting, fiscal management, and government accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Knowledge of WIOA, TANF, SNAP E&T and other pertinent regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of GAAP and other applicable accounting procedures.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and build professional relationships with employees and auditors.
- Ability to construct and maintain a comprehensive budget.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Quickly and accurately, shift attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
- Ability to work independently to handle pressures related to meeting deadlines and completing tasks requiring concentration.
- Comfortably and confidently, use a computer and specialized software to maintain accounting records.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) as well as accounting software; knowledge of MIP preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, evening and/or weekend hours when required.
