Accounting Technician
About the role
The Colusa County Auditor's Office is seeking a candidate to perform technical accounting, accounts payable, and financial support duties that help maintain accurate records and support efficient County operations. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to essential financial processes while supporting the services provided to the community.
Responsibilities
- Data entry of accounts payable
- Posting journal entries
- Entering financial data into the County's accounting system
- Processing cash receipts
- Printing and distributing AP checks
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with reconciliations of departmental monthly cash statements
- Preparing routine financial reports
- Providing administrative support for accounting functions
- Ensuring compliance with established County policies and procedures

Supervision
Receives direct supervision from higher-level supervisory or management staff. May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level accounting clerical staff.
Qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.

Pay
The salary range consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
