Responsibilities

  • Support new hire payroll onboarding and facilitate group training sessions.
  • Process new hires, terminations, status changes, payroll deductions, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, and special payments.
  • Review employee timesheets weekly across two different operating systems.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll cycles accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain timecard entries for employees on leave.
  • Review, update, and maintain employee paid time off (PTO) records.
  • Complete government compliance payroll reconciliations.
  • Compile and review reports to process premium pay adjustments.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports on a bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Review and process employee travel and living expense reports, ensuring reimbursement is in accordance with company policy.
  • Monitor aged expense transactions and follow up with employees and managers to ensure timely completion.
  • Provide one-on-one training to employees on the expense reporting process.
  • Perform accounts payable distributions for payroll-related costs on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in payroll and/or an accounting-related discipline.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Sound business judgment, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • High level of enthusiasm, with the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to meet internal and external needs.

    Skills

    • Associate degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
    • Experience with Oracle (preferred).
    • Experience with ADP (preferred).

    About the Role

    Saab, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our team in East Syracuse, NY. The primary responsibility of this role is processing bi-weekly payroll for multiple business units across the United States. This position also supports the review, prioritization, and processing of employee travel and expense reports in accordance with company policy and applicable government regulations.
