About the role
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of accounting records. The Accounting Specialist II performs a variety of complex accounting tasks related to accounts payable and receivable transactions, mentors and trains accounting staff, and works with management to improve processes.
Responsibilities
- Process invoices through receiving system exports and data uploads into the financial system.
- Resolve complex issues using various systems.
- Review and validate data for accuracy and integrity of financial reports.
- Prepare month-end accruals and reconcile accounts to the general ledger.
- Assist in the month-end closing process.
- Prepare and process accounts payable or accounts receivable checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments.
- Create and maintain accurate, timely, and professional spreadsheets.
- Assist in maintaining the accounts payable and receivable ERP systems.
- Work with internal and external customers to ensure accurate and timely processing of payable or receivable accounts.
- Participate on teams and cross-train in other accounting areas.
- Mentor and train accounting specialists.
- Assist with audit fieldwork for both operational and financial audits.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business administration or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Four (4) or more years of prior accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of electronic receiving systems.
