Accounting Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, Excel, depreciation schedules, and sales tax reporting. This position will also provide support with select human resources functions, making it a great opportunity for someone with a well-rounded administrative and accounting background.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Process invoices, payments, deposits, and account reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules and tables
• Assist with monthly and year-end accounting activities
• Prepare and file sales tax reports
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
• Utilize Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, spreadsheets, and financial tracking
• Assist with account reconciliations and identifying discrepancies
• Support general accounting and administrative functions as needed
• Assist with various HR-related responsibilities, including employee records, onboarding, payroll support, and other HR administrative tasks
• Maintain confidentiality when handling financial and employee information

Qualifications

• Previous accounting experience with a strong understanding of AP and AR
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, spreadsheets, and data management
• Experience with depreciation schedules/tables and sales tax reporting
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Previous HR experience or exposure to HR functions preferred
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Accounting degree, coursework, or equivalent professional experience preferred
