About the role
Heritage Federal Credit Union, a Readers' Choice Best Credit Union gold award recipient, is growing thanks to its focus on helping its members and community. As the organization expands, it is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the accounting team with daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the implementation of specific automation initiatives within the department
- Complete reconciliation of ITM’s and ATM’s and collaborate with front-line staff to resolve and decide on reconciling items
- Reconcile corporate checking accounts, addressing discrepancies
- Execute the accounts payable process and interact with users of the AVID system
- Follow up on outstanding invoices with colleagues and vendors
- Perform general ledger posting, reconciliation, and research
- Investigate, track, and resolve accounting or documentation issues including discrepancies
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and revenue and expense variance analyses
- Perform other duties as outlined in the job description
Qualifications/Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a postgraduate degree in accounting or a related field is preferred
- One to three years of previous related experience are required
- Familiarity with related computer applications
- Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet software
- Excellent typing skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to assist others
