About the role

We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, ensuring all transactions are recorded, and performing accounting tasks and projects to support the Accounting Manager and/or Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Process Accounts Payable in order to maintain the integrity of the company’s financial data and safeguard the company’s financial assets.
  • Collaborate with Staff Accountants and Managers to validate GL codes, vendor details, approvals, and documentation accuracy.
  • Absorb third-party accounts payable vendor with resolution of questions and issues and help ensure a system is set up to manage invoices received via email, mail, or courier to ensure they are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the status of invoices in the electronic accounts payable software across various queues is communicated to internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Be the super user of the payable software system.
  • Develops and maintains project schedule in conjunction with business plan goals, leading the team to both achieve project approvals and execute construction in alignment with expectations.
  • Anticipate and address potential delays by communicating with the leader about schedule changes.
  • Review the general ledger for coding inconsistencies, leveraging AP knowledge.
  • Support year-end audit preparations and assist in annual budgeting.
  • Perform and complete accounting tasks or projects to support the managers of your portfolio and the overall company.
  • Absorb in assisting in training and answering questions for employees on software questions, specifically Nexus and/or other accounting-related matters when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or 1 year of experience as a Staff Accountant or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Knowledge of MRI & Nexus preferred.
  • Ability to work with various technology tools.

The compensation range for this position is $30 - $33/hr (inclusive of base salary + bonus).

Schedule

40 hours per week.
