About the role
The Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of Girl Scouts San Diego's financial processes. This position supports the organization's mission by handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll transactions.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll transactions accurately and on time.
- Prepare vendor payments, cash receipts, billings, and supporting documentation.
- Code transactions to the correct general ledger accounts, programs, and funding sources.
- Support payroll by reviewing data, maintaining records, and assisting with reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payroll accounts, and other assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborate across departments to answer questions, resolve issues, and support smooth financial processes.
- Aid in identifying and implementing workflow improvements, strengthening controls, and supporting efficient finance operations.
Requirements
- Experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
- Two or more years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or related administrative experience.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, financial records, and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Office applications, and accounting or payroll systems.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- A service-oriented communication style and ability to build positive cross-department relationships.
- A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and commitment to the organization's mission and values.
Qualifications
