Role Overview
The Accounting Specialist supports day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and timely processing of transactions. This role assists with reconciliations and month-end close, while adhering to established accounting standards and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the Company’s mission, while successfully performing its core values related to integrity, service, excellence, stability, strength, respect, and teamwork.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Support financial reporting and audit requests.
- Process routine accounting transactions, including cash, accruals, and expenses.
- Respond to customer emails and phone calls regarding billing, payments, refunds, and account inquiries, in a timely and professional manner.
- Investigate customer and account issues, identify root causes, and coordinate appropriate resolutions with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
- Complete various accounting projects as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field. 2-5 years of general accounting experience. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field. Industry experience in insurance or financial services. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
