Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing, researching, and approving complex general ledger journal entries.
- Serving as a liaison between state agencies and external financial entities for accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and federal grant management.
- Validating biweekly payroll, taxes, deductions, and employee benefit expenses.
- Maintaining confidentiality of employee information during payroll garnishments.
- Performing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.
- Reconciling accounts and analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
- Maintaining accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, assets, liabilities, and inter-agency transactions.
- Preparing financial reports, expenditure analyses, forecasts, and statistical reports for management.
- Providing guidance and customer service to agency finance staff and state officials.
- Supervising financial staff and overseeing financial management programs when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, fiscal management, or business management in either the public or private sector.
- Substitutions: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field may substitute for the experience requirement. A Bachelor's degree plus an active CPA license may also substitute for the experience requirement.
