Accounting Specialist
About the role
The Accounting Specialist role offers an opportunity to support day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced office environment in Mounds View, MN. You will handle invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, bookkeeping, and various administrative office functions while collaborating closely with internal teams and external vendors. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with tools such as Coupa and Microsoft Excel, and who enjoys managing multiple priorities while contributing to smooth financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Generate and process customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable, including tracking payments and supporting collection activities.
- Assist with accounts payable functions, including reviewing invoices, coding expenses, and processing payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and promptly resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in an organized and accessible manner.
- Support month-end and year-end accounting activities as needed, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Perform data entry and other accounting-related administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- Assist with general office administration, including filing, document management, and operational support.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.
- Provide additional accounting and administrative support as assigned to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for handling financial data and reports.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all accounting and administrative work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in an on-site office environment.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, invoicing, data entry, and bookkeeping.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using Coupa procurement or expense management software is preferred.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple business units.
- Demonstrated reliability and consistency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support a variety of accounting and administrative tasks.
Work Environment
This role is based in an on-site office setting in Mounds View, supporting two business units. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The team operates within one of the largest laboratory groups in the world, with a strong reputation and presence across the U.S. and internationally. The group is known for a very low turnover rate, an excellent leadership team, and a positive, collaborative culture. Permanent employees are eligible for profit sharing based on company and individual performance, and tenure as a contractor counts toward profit-sharing eligibility once hired. Pay
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
