About the role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist (AP/Payroll) to provide broad accounting support with a strong emphasis on payroll processing and day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and exceptional customer service. This opportunity is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting both accounting functions and internal stakeholders. This role is on-site in Vancouver, Washington.
Responsibilities
- Process semi-monthly payroll, review timesheets, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, coding, vendor maintenance, and payment tracking.
- Maintain general ledger activity by preparing journal entries, reconciling bank deposits and cash receipts, and supporting accurate financial records.
- Prepare financial, payroll, and compliance reports while assisting with year-end activities such as W-2 and 1099 processing.
- Support audits, departmental accounting operations, and provide guidance on financial policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on payroll processing; experience supporting accounts payable is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting discrepancies independently while maintaining confidentiality.
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
