Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable at The Sebastian Vail

About the role

A detail-oriented and organized accounting professional to support accounts payable operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role plays an important part in ensuring timely, accurate processing of invoices, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices, verify approvals, and ensure accurate coding to the appropriate accounts and departments.
• Prepare and execute vendor payments in accordance with company policies and payment schedules.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and supporting documentation.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding invoice status, payment inquiries, and issue resolution.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting support.
• Review purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for accuracy and compliance with internal procedures.
• Support audit requests by providing documentation and account details as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and strengthen controls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience in accounts payable, accounting, or bookkeeping preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting or ERP systems preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
