Accounting Operations Specialist

At MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, we are a leading mechanical contracting firm in the Northwest. We provide HVAC, plumbing, and automation system solutions for commercial buildings. Our diverse workforce includes over 1,600 employees across 14 offices, offering a wide range of projects and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple accounting functions by rotating through Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Job Cost/Project Accounting, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets.
• Maintain accurate financial records by processing invoices, customer payments, journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with project teams by supporting job costing, customer billing, project accounting, WIP reporting, and cost tracking to help drive successful project outcomes.
• Contribute to our ERP transformation by learning new systems, adapting to evolving processes, and helping the accounting team successfully navigate our enterprise system implementation.
• Drive operational excellence by identifying process improvements, collaborating across departments, and providing dependable support wherever it's needed most.

Requirements

• Average of 2-4 years of accounting experience with exposure to multiple accounting functions.
• Construction or mechanical contracting industry experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data reconciliation.
• The ability to quickly learn new accounting systems and adapt to changing business processes.

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
