Accounting Operations Specialist
About the role
Aon is seeking an Accounting Operations Specialist to join a dynamic team focused on delivering innovative and effective solutions for clients. The role is based in Fort Wayne, IN, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule after an initial training period.
Responsibilities
- Apply various payments in multiple administrative systems
- Weekly and monthly carrier payable reporting and payments
- Point person for internal and external contacts in global regional offices regarding payments
- Work closely with Business Units to facilitate requests and payment processing
- Run reports based on need and analyze for action items
- Work with both internal and external clients to resolve discrepancies
- Within the accounting operations team, improve processes by gaining a thorough understanding of all processes
- Document processes and gain a thorough understanding of all processes to work within the accounting operations team to evaluate and improve processes
- Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts
- Refund processing and reconciliation in multiple administrative systems
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level
- Utilize analytical tools to identify opportunities for cost savings / efficiency improvement
- Partner with Business Units, Financial Control, FP&A, and other regional Accounting Operation teams to resolve issues and create transparency
- Involvement in projects, audits, and technology enhancement testing
- Support Business Units by investigating and resolving ad-hoc payment-related inquiries
Requirements
- 1 - 3 years related experience
- A self-starter and independent individual, capable of working in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with all levels of management and comfort in presenting to business leaders and colleagues internal and external
- A customer service focus
- A thorough understanding of Excel pivot tables, V-lookups, graphs, functions, links, and working with external data
- Ability to adapt in a changing and fast-paced environment
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
- Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to take initiative and proactively address potential issues

Pay
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $50,000 to $55,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
