About the Role
The Senior Manager, Accounting is a key member of the Accounting team, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Accounting. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, managing the month-end close process, supporting technical accounting matters, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements, strengthening internal controls, and leading process improvement initiatives. The position also provides leadership to accounting team members while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day general ledger accounting activities.
- Manage month-end and period-end close processes.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee intercompany and subsidiary accounting transactions.
- Manage multi-entity consolidation activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting throughout the close cycle.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex accounting matters.
- Support revenue recognition, lease accounting, and equity-related accounting.
- Review accounting treatment for contracts and business transactions.
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepare and review financial reporting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Comply with company policies and financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate annual audit activities with external auditors.
- Aid in tax filings and external reporting requirements.
- Prepare audit documentation and respond to technical accounting requests.
- Promote audit readiness across accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and scalability.
- Standardize accounting procedures and documentation.
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members.
- Review team performance and provide ongoing guidance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across accounting operations.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing accounting team.
- Partner with Finance and business leaders on accounting initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on policy compliance.
- Support special projects and strategic accounting initiatives.
- Improve accounting and finance workflows through process enhancements.
- Communicate complex accounting matters clearly to business partners.
- Contribute to organizational financial planning and operational success.
Requirements
- Minimum of eight years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic business environments.
- Experience with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise ERP system.
- Strong knowledge of month-end close processes.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Preferred qualifications include:
- CPA or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with multi-entity and international consolidations.
- Experience managing overseas entities and foreign currency accounting.
- Experience with intercompany accounting transactions.
- Experience with financial reporting and consolidation tools.
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience with coaching and developing accounting teams.
