About the Role
The Accounting Manager ensures the accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions. Directly supervises and evaluates the day-to-day activities of designated personnel and works cross-functionally with various teams throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Supports the team’s month-end closing activities including the completion of journal entries, account reconciliations, and expense variance explanations.
- Prepares and maintains well-defined financial reports for use in validating and analyzing financial results.
- Maintains accurate records and completes timely submissions for business operating permits and licensing.
- Routinely works with the various financial systems used by the department to research and answer questions related to the financial statements.
- Assists in the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Seeks opportunities to modify or enhance current business processes to ensure optimal productivity.
- Builds and develops strong relationships with others throughout the organization to develop solutions to new situations and to identify or correct problems.
- Compiles internal process memos, process mapping, and other documentation related to accounting transactions and journal entries.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
- Certificate(s) or License(s) such as CPA or PMP (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
Skills
- Experience managing a team.
- Knowledge of advanced formulas and pivot tables in Excel.
- Ability to set, measure, and consistently achieve goals within established timelines.
- Willingness to develop team members for additional responsibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Travel Requirements
Minimal overnight travel required; may occasionally include attendance at overnight conferences or professional development events.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sits and works on a computer.
- Occasionally stands and walks.
- Seldom/never lifts up to 50 lbs.
