Accounting Manager (Payroll & Finance)
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will play a critical leadership role within the Finance team, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented nonprofit accounting professional with strong NetSuite expertise, experience managing accounting operations, and a passion for continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, and financial analyses.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, receivables, and related transactions.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and supporting financial records.
- Oversee accounting for grants, contributions, pledges, deferred revenue, and other funding sources in accordance with GAAP.
- Partner with Development teams to ensure proper revenue coding and recognition.
- Maintain accurate records related to grants, receivables, and deferred revenue.
- Serve as an internal NetSuite subject matter expert, providing training, documentation, and ongoing user support.
- Support the implementation and optimization of financial tools and technologies, including expense management solutions.
- Supervise and mentor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff.
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant nonprofit accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience managing accounting operations and month-end close processes.
- Advanced proficiency with NetSuite ERP, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supervising AP and/or AR staff.
- Experience with financial systems integrations, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
The organization offers a competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $120,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, retirement savings with employer match, paid time off, life insurance, and additional employee perks.
