Accounting Manager, AWS Supply Chain Accounting

About the role

AWS is looking for individuals who can bring both accounting experience and entrepreneurial aptitude to accelerate decision-making and manage the business and accounting. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, a passion for analytics and accountability, and the ability to set high standards and achieve razor-sharp accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Support the optimization of AWS’s supply chain, focusing on operational benefits such as continuity of supply and cost efficiency.
  • End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners.
  • Lead the delivery of accounting tasks and projects.
  • Execute judgments to keep business and accounting projects moving and ensure the right decisions are made to close the books each month.
  • Understand internal control design concepts and assess the effectiveness of existing controls. Design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.
  • Escalate risks and issues as necessary to leadership.
  • Show strong sense of ownership and identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.
  • Enhance partnerships between accounting and business, finance, tax, trade compliance, and IT groups.
  • Research, conclude, and memorialize technical accounting position papers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four firms with Fortune 500 clients.
  • Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan.
  • Experience in solving complex business challenges through accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business.
  • Experience with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
  • 4+ years of transactional accounting field experience.
