Responsibilities
- Provide consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotel by supplying management with guidance and training.
- Manage and communicate cash flow related issues, including accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements: cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms, and timely deposits of all funds.
- Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure accurate recording in accordance with established guidelines.
- Monitor and control the hotel’s cash flow and operating forecast.
- Create annual budgets and monthly variance analysis; investigate and critique variances to budget or prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies.
- Ensure hotel compliance on all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and proper execution of all operational taxes.
- Analyze financial data and operations to assist and advise management in maintaining financial objectives.
- Comply with standard accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for finance and accounting operations.
- Review and approve all balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets, master keys, payroll, and employee records.
- Complete all internal and external financial audits, coordinate with CPA firms, and deliver information requested by auditors on a timely basis.
- Hire, train, supervise, and develop staff, including coaching, counseling, and discipline.
- Maintain compliance with company standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Prepare all financial reports in accordance with company requirements, meeting due dates and deadlines.
- Weekly reports: A/R & A/P Aging, Flash Reports, Payroll Reports, Revenue Updates.
- Monthly reports: Financial Statements, Forecasting Key Statistics Report, Cash Flow.
- Annual reports: Budgets, 5-Year Plans, 5-Year Capital Plans.
- Interact with Executive Committee members to ensure property operations are on track and under control.
- Monitor hotel compliance in meeting required report deadlines and react accordingly.
- Monitor the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report.
- Execute other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of related progressive experience in hotel accounting or a related field; or a 4-year college degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration and a minimum of 2 years of related progressive experience; or a 2-year college degree and a minimum of 4 years of related progressive experience.
- Proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, word processing, and all hotel-specific systems.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
- Comply with company standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts toward productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.
- Understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
