Accounting Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable international accounting requirements.
• Review and analyze balance sheet accounts and income statement variances.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Cook up and coordinate accounting activities across U.S., UK, and Italian operations.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of up to five accounting professionals.
• Establish performance goals and conduct performance evaluations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support employee training and professional development initiatives.

Financial Controls & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks and corporate accounting policies.
• Cook up and coordinate internal and external audit activities and respond to audit requests.
• Aid in the development and implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Monitor compliance with tax, financial reporting, and regulatory obligations.

International Accounting Support

• Support accounting and reporting requirements for international entities.
• Cook up and coordinate intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Aid with currency translation and consolidation processes.
• Partner with external advisors and local accounting resources as needed.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Serve as a key finance user for Sage and AS400 applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting processes.
• Support system upgrades, implementations, and finance technology initiatives.
• Develop and maintain accounting reports and data analysis tools.

Budgeting & Analysis

• Support Finance leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
• Provide accounting guidance and support to cross-functional business partners.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and management presentations.
