Responsibilities
- Manage and execute key components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities.
- Review financial results and variances, identifying issues and assisting with resolution.
- Maintain and update accounting policies, documentation, and internal controls related to core accounting processes.
- Assist in standing up a SOX compliant internal control program.
- Evaluate current accounting processes and identify opportunities to streamline and automate workflows.
- Implement process improvements to enhance close-cycle efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, Operations, and IT, to support system enhancements and data integrity.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly internal financial reporting packages.
- Aid in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support management decision-making.
- Support audit activities, including providing schedules, documentation, and timely responses to auditor inquiries.
- Guide and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with other accounting team members to resolve issues and support department goals.
Qualifications
- 6–9 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience managing and mentoring staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA highly preferred but not required.
- Experience in government contracting or a similar complex environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a SOX compliant environment.
- Demonstrated experience with month-end close and general ledger management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with ERP systems; Deltek Costpoint experience is a plus.
