Accounting Manager

About the role

SkyWater Search Partners is partnering with a large, well‑established construction organization seeking an Accounting Manager. The company has a healthy backlog, several significant projects underway, and expects continued growth across multiple construction verticals. Candidates must be based in the Twin Cities metro area and be on‑site four days per week. This role offers ownership of core accounting operations, financial reporting, and close processes while leading and developing a team, and includes collaboration with project accounting, payroll, and FP&A.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting.
• Oversee key accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
• Support job‑cost accounting, work‑in‑process reporting, and revenue recognition.
• Lead, coach, and develop an experienced accounting team.
• Partner across project accounting, payroll, FP&A, and other business areas.
• Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and greater efficiency.
• Take ownership of issues, devise solutions, and drive improvements across the department.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior people‑leadership experience.
• Construction experience either through direct accounting roles in the construction industry or public‑accounting audit experience with a strong construction client focus.
• Strong technical accounting foundation and understanding of the construction environment.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Hands‑on, self‑directed leader who takes initiative and brings solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across the organization and lead an experienced team.

Pay

Salary: $120,000
