About the Role
We are looking for a highly technical, proactive Accounting Manager to join our finance team during an exciting period of growth. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will lead day-to-day financial operations, ensure the integrity of financial data, and provide critical analysis to support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong technical background, capable of streamlining processes and evolving a best-in-class control framework within a fast-paced digital insurance brokerage environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end process: Oversee the timely and accurate production of monthly financial reporting, ensuring all P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements are reconciled and reviewed.
- Operational oversight: Partner closely with the transactional finance team (including Accounts Payable and Accountant) to coordinate workflow, review deliverables, and ensure accurate execution of day-to-day operations.
- Financial oversight: Review and approve complex journals and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring high standards of accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Audit and compliance: Lead preparation for year-end audits, act as the primary liaison for external auditors, and ensure all statutory reporting requirements are met. Enhance insurance industry knowledge and collaborate on projects such as Managing General Agent enhancements and escheatment processes.
- Process improvement: Drive the evolution of our internal control framework, identify efficiencies, and implement automated solutions where possible. Collaborate across the finance team and wider business to support risk assessments and develop control improvements.
- Cash management: Oversee treasury functions, including short-term cash flow forecasting and management of payment runs.
- Strategic support: Carry out ad hoc financial modeling and project work as required by the Financial Controller and VP of Finance to support business growth.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant finance experience, with a CPA (or equivalent) certification required.
- Experience guiding workflows or reviewing the work of transactional staff is preferred.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate across functions, delegate effectively, and keep teams aligned on tight deadlines without direct line-management authority.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and a demonstrated track record of managing complex financial close processes.
- Proven ability to manage, monitor, and continuously optimize internal control processes to mitigate risk and ensure data integrity.
- A forward-thinking approach to finance, with a focus on leveraging AI and automation tools to streamline transactional tasks, eliminate manual reconciliations, and drive departmental efficiencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to challenge the status quo and influence senior leadership.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems and a drive to explore additional financial tools to enhance capabilities across the finance team.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $104,000.00 - $171,700.00. The actual salary will be determined by factors such as scope, complexity, location of the role, skills, education, training, credentials, and experience. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
