Accounting Manager

Role: Accounting Manager Location: San Diego, CA (in-office) Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits Role Overview Seasats is growing quickly, and we're looking for an Accounting Manager to help build the financial infrastructure needed for our next stage of growth. Reporting to the CFO, you'll own core accounting operations while helping strengthen our systems, processes, and controls as we scale, with a growth path toward Controller as the role and the company mature. We're a venture-backed company with hardware manufacturing, software, government contracts, and field operations running around the world, so this role touches a lot of ground. We're looking for someone who can run a strong accounting function and genuinely enjoys getting into the details themselves. You'll own areas like the month-end close, accounting operations, and audit support while helping us mature our ERP and broader finance infrastructure. In your first year, you'll help move Seasats to a scalable finance organization: making the close faster and more reliable, strengthening controls, improving the quality of financial information available to leadership, and helping establish effective manufacturing and government-contract accounting processes. Role Details Own and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statementsMaintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistentlyOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliations, fixed assets, and other accounting operationsDevelop accounting procedures and internal controls appropriate for a rapidly scaling companySupport inventory, manufacturing, work-in-process, and cost accounting as our production operations growSupport accounting and compliance requirements associated with government contractsSupport budgeting, cash forecasting, and management reportingParticipate in the implementation and continued development of the company's ERP and related financial systemsIdentify opportunities to automate manual accounting processes and improve data qualityHelp build the accounting team and finance function as Seasats grows About You You have: 5+ years of progressive accounting experienceExperience with operating-company accounting, public accounting, and/or fractional or outsourced accounting rolesExperience working for, advising, or auditing a company in the defense, aerospace, government contracting, or a closely related industryExperience working in an organization subject to external financial statement audits, with a strong understanding of audit preparation and supporting documentationExperience owning or playing a significant role in month-end closeAbility to operate effectively in an environment where processes are still being built and responsibilities can evolve quicklyStrong attention to detail combined with the judgment to identify which issues actually matterAbility to work independently, investigate unfamiliar accounting issues, and recommend practical solutionsStrong communication skills and comfort working directly with executives and cross-functional teams Bonus Points If You Have A CPA or are a CPA candidatePublic accounting experienceExperience participating in an ERP implementation, migration, or major accounting-system redesignManufacturing, inventory, or cost-accounting experienceExperience with venture-backed or high-growth companiesFamiliarity with FAR, DFARS, DCAA, government contract accounting, or related compliance requirementsExperience building accounting procedures and internal controls in a growing organization Due to export control requirements applicable to this position, we are only able to consider U.S. persons, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
