Accounting Manager

About the role

Robert Half Management Resources is seeking an experienced Accounting and Finance Manager for a several‑month interim contract with a manufacturing client in Piqua, Ohio. This fully onsite position supports day‑to‑day finance operations and provides timely analysis for business decisions. The engagement runs through the end of January and includes responsibilities such as month‑end close, journal entry posting, bank and GL reconciliations, financial statement review, and light FP&A tasks like variance analysis and budget‑to‑actual reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead core monthly accounting activities, coordinating the close cycle and ensuring accurate, timely financial results.
• Prepare and record journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and supporting documentation.
• Review financial results across the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement to identify trends, issues, and reporting needs.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Develop Excel‑based analyses, reports, and models to support forecasting, budgeting, and other ad‑hoc finance requests.
• Partner with finance leadership to manage recurring reporting responsibilities and provide insight into business performance.
• Support day‑to‑day FP&A and accounting priorities by taking ownership of operational tasks and responding to shifting business demands.
• Contribute financial data and analysis for special projects and evolving reporting requirements within the manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, or a closely related finance role.
• Strong command of month‑end close procedures, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
• Solid understanding of financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows.
• Demonstrated ability to perform variance analysis and deliver clear, accurate ad‑hoc financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial data effectively.
• Manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with QAD is beneficial, though not required.
• Proven ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and bring a proactive approach in an onsite team setting.
