Accounting Manager

About the role

We're seeking an Accounting Manager to own the books with discipline and independence, ensuring our finances are clean and decision-ready. Reporting directly to our Senior Director of Operations, you'll serve as the accounting authority, setting standards and collaborating with our HR & Finance Coordinator on accounting tasks. This full-time, in-person role is based at our Cleveland, OH office and requires local candidates or those willing to relocate.

This role blends execution and ownership—you'll handle the monthly close, reconcile details, and proactively identify and resolve discrepancies. With a lean accounting function, you'll thrive on autonomy and take pride in maintaining accurate, audit-ready books.

Responsibilities

• Full ownership of day-to-day accounting under US GAAP, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness
• Manage the monthly close process, completed on schedule without senior intervention
• Handle revenue recognition for production contracts, show settlements, and non-standard deal structures
• Ensure job costing accuracy across events, productions, and service engagements
• Execute inter-company transactions and complex or one-off deals
• Set and enforce transaction recording standards for the HR & Finance Coordinator
• Identify, investigate, and resolve financial discrepancies, process gaps, or anomalies independently
• Present findings and resolutions to leadership after addressing issues

Requirements

• 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a project- or event-based business
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to explain accounting principles
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Hands-on experience with job costing and revenue recognition for contract or production-based work
• Comfortable working independently and making accounting judgment calls
• Collaborative communicator who can guide a coordinator without creating bottlenecks
• Based in or able to relocate to the Cleveland, OH area; in-person availability during standard business hours

Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate is a strong plus (not required if experience speaks for itself)
• Direct experience in live events, AV production, touring, or entertainment finance
• Familiarity with show budgets, vendor settlements, and production cost structures
• Experience supporting operations or executive leadership in fast-paced environments
• Exposure to multi-entity or inter-company accounting structures

Pay

Base Salary: ~$65,000 - $70,000 / year
