Accounting Manager
About the role
We are seeking a strategic and highly analytical Accounting Manager to manage the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant across multiple entities. You will oversee core accounting processes, including invoicing, payroll, month-end close, and financial reporting, while partnering with finance leadership to provide reliable financial information that supports organizational decision-making. This role also collaborates with the Tax & Bookkeeping Consulting firm to ensure that all records and compliance requirements are up to date.
This position is remote; however, candidates must reside and perform work in one of the following states: California, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, South Carolina, Mississippi, South Dakota, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, or North Dakota.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations across multiple LLCs, affiliated entities, and related organizations, ensuring accurate financial records for each entity
- Perform all accounts receivables duties, including invoicing within grant governance guidelines
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain entity-specific accounting records and assist the Tax & Bookkeeping Consulting firm with state registrations, tax filings, and compliance requirements as needed
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure accurate allocation of shared expenses across entities
- Manage payroll processing and ensure payroll and accounting practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations across multiple jurisdictions
- Oversee accounts payable and cash receipt processes
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies
- Assist with budgeting by providing financial data and variance reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls
- Support annual audits and work with external accountants
- Develop and improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal processes
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and financial workflows
- Partner with department leaders to answer accounting questions and provide financial support
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes
- Improve accounting efficiency through standardized systems and procedures
- Support compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements
- Create a strong accounting foundation that enables organizational growth
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational goals and business objectives
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Preferred fields of study include: Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience managing general ledger accounting and financial close processes
- Experience processing or overseeing payroll
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Experience working with multiple entities, subsidiaries, or complex organizational structures preferred
Skills
- Accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar ERP/accounting platforms)
- Payroll systems (Gusto, ADP, Paylocity, or similar)
- Google Workspace
- Monday.com
- Microsoft Suite
Working Conditions
- Remote role; requiring extended discussions (1–2 hours), and sustained concentration on highly detailed information
- Ability to mentally focus on a high volume of numbers & calculations for a continuous 4–6 hours
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach in all directions
- Ability to see a full range of colors
- Ability to focus on computer screens for up to 5 hours at a time
- Domestic travel required
- Carry loads of up to 40 lbs
Pay
Base Salary: $105,000 - $120,000
