Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains, and ensures implementation of appropriate accounting policies and best practices.
- Evaluates and analyzes proposed transactions for accounting implications and potential impact of proposed accounting standards.
- Prepares documentation supporting the company’s accounting positions taken on significant or complex transactions.
- Identifies and documents accounting and business requirements impacting the company’s systems and processes.
- Manages the payroll functions for our Hotels and ensures timely and accurate payroll processing; includes the general accounting functions for all compensation-related areas (garnishments, payroll taxes).
- Supports various companies or lines of business-specific initiatives as it relates to assessing accounting, reporting, and disclosure implications.
- Responsible for the overselling of all of our hotel ordering processes.
- Affords assistance to management and functional areas in achieving goals, executing strategy, and meeting business needs through the application of services provided by corporate finance (i.e. general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee payroll).
- Maintains oversight of hotel revenues to ensure accurate recording and report variances to accounting management.
- Maintains and audits internal financial controls associated with the income stream cash handling, revenue posting, package handling, adjustment posting, records retention, and storage.
- Makes sure financial reports are prepared in accordance with company standards requirements meeting various due dates: Daily: Cash Report, Income Journal, Revenue Report; Monthly: TA Processing, Inventory Counts & Extensions, Key Statistical Reports.
- Ensures consistency in communication with the appropriate managers and staff members to minimize negative transactions and maximize revenues.
- Ensures complete and appropriate backup documentation and maintains all guest accounting transactions.
- Continually increases involvement in the month-end Financial Statement closing and preparation including.

- Advanced competency in computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays when necessary.
