About the role
The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial statements and proper record-keeping. Key responsibilities include managing the month-end close process, preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting, and overseeing inventory and tax processes.
Responsibilities
- Generate and audit financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, delegating tasks and reviewing work for timeliness and accuracy.
- Provide training and development tools to improve staff performance.
- Oversee inventory data and support the inventory department with cycle counts and full count physical inventories.
- Process state sales tax and use returns monthly or quarterly.
- Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts and assist with state registrations as needed.
- Manage the process of generating labor and overhead rates annually.
- Aid the controller in budget implementation and maintenance, reporting on monthly budget variances, and assisting with process improvements and internal controls.
- Document accounting procedures and coordinate with outside tax accountants at fiscal year-end.
- Perform account reconciliations monthly, approve accounts payable cash outflows weekly, and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Oversee the fixed asset and depreciation process and generate weekly general ledger payroll/benefits journal entries.
- Document key performance indicators monthly and assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
- 2-5 years accounting experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Cost accounting experience preferred.

- Mathematical skills, including ability to calculate discounts, gross margin, financial ratios, proportions, and percentages.
