Location: Cambridge, MA, USA (hybrid)Reporting to: Director, Financial Controller About HemabHemab is building preventative treatments for serious, underserved bleeding disorders. These are therapies designed to work with the body's own biology and stop bleeds before they start, instead of treating them after they happen. We're patient-first, science-led and clinical-stage - with a pipeline that takes different scientific approaches to different patient needs.Hemab went public via an IPO in May 2026, and we're scaling across our two hubs: Cambridge, MA, USA, and Copenhagen, Denmark. The roleOur finance team needs to grow with Hemab. As Accounting Manager / Senior Accounting Manager, you'll own some of our most complex accounting areas including R&D, G&A, and clinical trial accruals in addition to stock-based compensation and other reconciliations while also helping to strengthen the controls environment and the financial reporting capabilities we need as a public company. This is a hands-on role. You'll prepare the work as well as improve how it's done, partnering directly with teams across multiple departments to ensure the accuracy of key accrual estimates in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Much of the structure is still being built, so you'll have genuine scope to make it better while working as part of an integrated, international finance team across our two hubs in Cambridge, MA, and Copenhagen, Denmark. You'll need to be comfortable finding the gaps and fixing them. The role is more operational than reviewing today: you'll work through the close, prepare accruals, manage equity administration, other reconciliations, and get into the detail yourself. As the team grows, there should be more opportunity to review and lead the work of others.Note: for the right candidate, who meets the top end of the required experience, we can consider hiring this role at Senior Manager-level What you'll doOwn complex and higher-risk accounting areas, including clinical trial accounting, CRO and CMO accruals, and other R&D/G&A accounting estimates.Manage stock plan administration, including valuation of options, share-based compensation accounting and option exercise activities.Take responsibility for parts of the monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules, with a focus on getting them right and getting them done on time.Work directly with applicable teams each month to understand activity, commitments and changes, turning that information into accurate accruals rather than relying solely on invoices.Manage relevant SOX control documentation and support the development and maintenance of internal controls required for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) compliance.Assist in the preparation of the financial statements, supporting schedules and SEC reporting, with the opportunity to take on more work currently supported by external partners.Serve as a liaison for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.Build cleaner, repeatable ways of working around accruals, close and reporting, identifying gaps and putting practical solutions in place.Contribute by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and other ad-hoc projects as needed. What you'll bring to HemabHands-on accounting experience in biotech, pharmaceutical or another R&D-intensive life sciences environment.5–8 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA a plusExperience owning complex R&D accounting and accruals, including clinical trial and CRO spend.Experience independently delivering meaningful parts of monthly and quarterly close.Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience applying it to accounting judgments rather than simply following established instructions.Experience working within a public-company or public-company-ready control and reporting environment. The ability to work directly with scientific and operational colleagues, understand what they're doing and translate it into accurate accounting. Nice to haveA combination of public accounting and biotech experience is preferred.Experience with SEC reporting, accruals, stock-based compensation and SOX controls.Experience building accrual processes from CRO and CMO data, including site- and patient-level tracking in clinical trial accrual systems.Experience with Dynamics 365 / Business Central or other ERP systems. What to expect, honestlyHemab is still building a lot of its own structure. Systems here tend to get created as we need them, not handed down in advance. Whoever takes this role will likely build some of their own process instead of inheriting a finished one. We work across two hubs and multiple time zones, bridging that well takes real, deliberate effort. And because we're growing quickly, priorities can shift with less notice than they would at a larger, more established company. This is the actual shape of working somewhere at this stage: it's genuinely energizing for the right person and genuinely frustrating for the wrong one. If you want a place where the operating manual is already written, this might not be it – but if you want to help write it, this might be exactly it. Why HemabAt Hemab, your work ultimately connects back to something simple. People living with serious bleeding disorders get something they've never had before - the chance to prevent a bleed, instead of reacting to one after it happens. You'll be joining at a stage where individual decisions still carry real weight, and where your work can help turn promising science into a preventative treatment that actually reaches patients. How we treat our people is meant to be an extension of how we think about patients: with care, honesty, and respect. We'd say that plainly instead of pretending otherwise. If any part of your experience with us falls short of it, tell us.Hemab builds balanced candidate slates and assesses everyone against a single standard. If you need a reasonable adjustment at any stage of the hiring process, please tell us.
