Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations.
- Perform detailed job costing and cost accounting to track project expenses and profitability accurately.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements specific to the construction industry.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review.
- Coordinate with project managers to align financial data with project budgets and timelines.
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and processes to improve workflow and data integrity.
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as necessary.
Skills
- Utilize bank reconciliation skills daily to ensure all cash transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Proficient in accounting systems to efficiently manage the general ledger and streamline full cycle accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles to guide compliance and audit readiness, maintaining the company’s financial integrity.
- Leadership and communication skills to manage the accounting team, coordinate with project managers, and present financial insights to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and full cycle accounting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and software relevant to construction accounting.
- Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations, job costing, and general ledger management.
- Preferred qualifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, experience working within the construction industry, familiarity with advanced construction accounting software, ERP systems, Ajera Program, strong analytical skills with experience in financial forecasting and budgeting, and excellent leadership and communication skills.
