Accounting Manager
About the role
The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting work prepared by staff members, including bank reconciliation, general ledger, balance sheet, and income statements for a growing CPA firm specializing in financial planning for national clientele. They also supervise a team of accountants.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Review monthly and quarterly accounting work including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts; verify general ledger for accuracy
- Review after the fact payroll summaries and journal entries
- Review journal entries to reconcile balance sheet accounts to support documents
- Oversee preparation of year end Forms 1096 & 1099
- Client contact as needed to facilitate completion of financial statements
- Responsible for a team of accountants, answer questions, give feedback and day-to-day managing of the team, ensuring timely delivery to our clients
- Adhere to review timeliness guidelines
- Provide weekly updates to the Accounting Director regarding overall team performance
- Manage time-off requests for team according to the Associates’ performance and business needs
- Perform monthly and quarterly financial statements including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts; verify general ledger for accuracy
- Record journal entries to reconcile balance sheet accounts to support documents
- Preparation of year end Forms 1096 & 1099
- Visit with client during annual consultation to develop accounting/client relationship
Job requirements
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred; 10+ years of experience in accounting field required; multi-client CPA firm experience preferred; supervisory experience leading or managing teams preferred; QuickBooks and Xero Software experience preferred; proficiency in both Microsoft Word and Excel; act as a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude
- Travel: No travel is expected for this position
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval. An in-office presence may be required for training. This is a primarily remote role, with an in-office presence once a month or as business need dictates. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management’s approval.
Job Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: Minimum: $90,000.00 - Maximum: $115,000.00 USD
